Today was the first official day of my nine-month contract here in Montluçon. I went to the Inspection [de l'Éducation Nationale] to sign some papers.
Education in France is administered in a triangle fashion, with the Ministère de l’Éducation on top and the individual schools on the bottom. The Inspection is a local body that oversees the direction and teaching in a particular city or area.
Dominique works at the Inspection and it is part of his job to work as a liaison between the language assistants and the elementry schools.

The Inspection is about a ten minute walk from my abode.
