2 octobre 2008, workshop in Moulins

THURSDAY

This morning at 7:30, Dominique picked up Becky (my roommate and fellow teaching assistant) and I and we drove to Moulins for un stage, which in this instance can be translated to "workshop." The drive was about one hour and fifteen minutes. The stage was scheduled to begin at 9am, though the people coming from Vichy were nearly thirty minutes late. The stage was just for all the English language assistants teaching in primary schools in the département* of Allier. There are only five English assitants for primary school in Allier... one in Moulins, two in Vichy, and two in Montluçon.
*département is about an equivalent to a state in the USA.

Pardon, this isn't a very good map, but I quickly sketched it out. The highlighted dot is Montluçon and Moulins is to the east.

The workshop was held at the Instituts Universitaires de Formation des Maîtres d'Auvergne, antenne de Moulins. This basically means it was at the Moulins branch of the teacher college in Auvergne. Becky standing in the room where our workshop took place.

Following the first part of the session and lunch, the group of us got in four seperate cars to go to a nearby elementry school where we could observe an English class. The person leading the way lost the rest of the us. Eventually, Dominique and everyone else who are lost pulled over to the side of the road. In the picture, you see Dominique consulting with another one of the lost cars. Finally, arrived at École Jean Moulin in Avermes, a suburb of Moulins.
